1. Why This Policy Exists

PriceCreeper.com ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are necessary for the Site to work. Others let us understand how the Site is used. And some — the ones that matter most to how we stay in business — allow merchants and affiliate networks to recognize that a purchase came from a link on our Site, which is how we earn a commission.

This Policy explains what we use, why, who else is involved, and how you can control it. It supplements our Privacy Policy and forms part of our Terms of Service. Questions or complaints: info@pricecreeper.com. To change your settings at any time, use the "Cookie Preferences" link in our footer.

2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. First-party cookies are set by the site you are visiting; third-party cookies are set by another organization. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser; persistent cookies remain for a set period. Throughout this Policy, "cookies" also covers:

  • Pixels / web beacons — tiny transparent images that record that a page or email was loaded.
  • Tags and scripts — code that runs in your browser to enable a feature or measurement.
  • Local storage and session storage — browser storage for preferences and state.
  • Server-side and click-identifier tracking — where a click identifier is passed in a URL and matched server-to-server, without a browser cookie.
  • Device and browser characteristics — used only for security, bot detection, and fraud prevention, never to build an advertising profile.

3. The Categories We Use

Strictly necessary (always on): required for the Site to function — load balancing and content delivery, security and bot mitigation, session and login state, storing your cookie choices, and CSRF/form protection. These cannot be switched off.

Functional (optional): remember your choices — currency, region and language, dark mode and display preferences, dismissed banners, and recently viewed products.

Analytics and performance (optional): help us understand which pages are useful, where errors occur, and how fast the Site loads. Where offered, we enable IP anonymization and disable provider data sharing.

Advertising and targeting (optional): where we run display advertising or retargeting, these build an interest profile and serve or measure ads.

4. Affiliate & Performance-Marketing Cookies — How We Make Money

This is the category that funds PriceCreeper. When you click an outbound link to a merchant, an affiliate network sets or reads a cookie, or passes a click identifier, so that if you complete a qualifying purchase within a defined window, the network can attribute that transaction to us and pay a commission.

What we receive: confirmation that a click we referred resulted in a qualifying transaction, an order value, a currency, and a timestamp. We do not receive your name, address, payment details, or an itemized purchase history tied to you as an identified individual. Cookie duration varies by program and is set by the merchant, not by us — commonly from a single session to 30 days.

If you decline this category, the Site still works exactly the same for you. You lose nothing. We simply may not earn a commission on a purchase you make. Under some U.S. state laws this activity may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — you may opt out (see Your Controls).

5. Third Parties That Set Cookies Through Our Site

Affiliate and measurement partners may set or read cookies through our Site, including impact.com, CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction, Inc.), Rakuten Advertising, Awin / ShareASale, Amazon Associates, and Sovrn Commerce, along with our analytics, CDN/security, consent-management, and email providers.

We do not control third-party cookies. Each third party sets, reads, and retains its own cookies under its own policy and, in most cases, acts as an independent controller of the data it collects. Review their policies.

6. How We Ask for Consent

EEA, UK, or Switzerland: we use a consent banner that appears before any non-essential cookie is set, with "Reject All" as prominent as "Accept All." We record your choice and re-ask no more than every 12 months, or sooner if processing materially changes.

United States: we operate on a notice-and-opt-out model. Non-essential cookies may load on first visit, and you may opt out at any time through the "Cookie Preferences" or "Your Privacy Choices" link in our footer.

Global Privacy Control: in every jurisdiction, if your browser transmits a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of the sale of personal data and of targeted advertising, and we apply it automatically, server-side.

7. Your Controls

Use "Cookie Preferences" in the footer of any page to enable or disable each optional category. Enable GPC in a supporting browser and we honor it automatically. To opt out of sale / sharing / targeted advertising, use "Your Privacy Choices" in the footer or email info@pricecreeper.com with the subject "OPT OUT."

Every major browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Brave) and mobile OS (iOS, Android) also lets you block or delete cookies and limit ad tracking — though blocking all cookies will break parts of this Site, including login and saved preferences. Industry opt-out programs include the DAA (optout.aboutads.info), NAI (optout.networkadvertising.org), DAA Canada (youradchoices.ca), and EDAA (youronlinechoices.eu).

8. What Happens If You Opt Out

Functional: preferences reset each visit. Analytics: no effect on your experience; we lose data used to improve the Site. Affiliate: no effect on your experience, price, or checkout — we may simply earn no commission. Advertising: you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant.

Opting out never changes the price you pay, your eligibility for any promotion, or your access to any part of this Site. We do not discriminate against users who exercise privacy choices.

9. Changes

We update this Policy when our technology or partners change. The "Last Updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced through the consent banner, which will re-request consent where the law requires it.
